High Off Life Review
2020Album
Twenty one tracks, seventy two minutes, and about four songs. The bloat era at full stretch.

There is a decent thirty five minute record inside this and no incentive existed to find it. The economics of the moment rewarded track count, so the album runs to twenty one and coasts on production that is polished and interchangeable, the same low end and the same detuned lead across most of it. Life Is Good is the reason anyone bought it, a two part single with a beat switch that genuinely surprises, and it is one of the best things either artist involved has released.
Solitaires has a lovely, exhausted quality. Trillionaire and Posted with Demons work. Beyond those the record is a long flat plain of adequate tracks that end because they were always going to end. The voice remains one of the most distinctive instruments in the form. Applied here it is being used to fill space, and by the fiftieth minute the fog stops being atmospheric and starts being fatigue.
