Good Morning Gorgeous Review
2022Album
A comfortable, competent legacy record that does not need to prove anything and duly does not.

The title track is lovely and it sets a bar the rest cannot clear. A woman looking in a mirror and choosing to be kind to herself is a real subject, and she sings it with the ease of somebody who has finally earned the sentiment. From there the album becomes a survey of current sounds with guest artists attached, and the guests define the tracks more than she does. Amazing has a strong beat and a forgettable song on top.
Rent Money is fun. The trap leaning cuts are perfectly executed and would suit ten other singers equally well. What is missing is the specificity, the small ugly detail she used to build whole records from. Affirmation is the mode throughout, and affirmation is the hardest thing to make interesting twice. It is a pleasant listen from a great artist, made for an audience that will love her regardless, and there is nothing here that anyone will still be playing in twenty years.
