Fetti Review
2018Album
Thirty minutes of luxurious loops and two rappers who never sound like they are trying, which is the appeal.

Ten tracks, thirty minutes, and one producer setting a single mood and never leaving it: warm loops, filtered strings, drums mixed low, the sound of an expensive apartment in the afternoon. The pairing is the interesting part. Curren$y is laid back to the point of horizontal, all texture and no urgency, and Gibbs is coiled and precise, so the trade offs create a contrast neither would get alone. New Thangs and The Blow are the highlights.
Location Remote is the one that has stuck around. Nobody is stretching here. The writing across the record is comfortable material about money, cars and staying out of trouble, and there is no arc or ambition beyond making thirty good minutes. That modesty is why it holds up. It is the sort of collaboration that used to be called a throwaway and turns out to be the one you play most often, and it set up the far more serious album this rapper and this producer would make two years later.
