Everything Is Love Review
2018Album
The victory lap after the two confession records, pleasant and slight and mostly a Beyoncé album.

Two albums had done the hard work, one from each side of a marriage in trouble, and this is the reconciliation. It is also the thinnest of the three. Apeshit is the moment, a hard trap beat, a video filmed in the Louvre and a hook that carried it, and the visual did more for the song than the song does for itself. Boss and Nice are enjoyable and forgettable.
Friends is the sweetest thing here. His verses are relaxed and often lazy, a man on holiday, and the album belongs to his wife on every track where they share space, because her performances have urgency and his do not. There is a decent argument that the trilogy needed a light ending, and a better one that thirty nine minutes of couples flexing is a strange payoff to a story about infidelity and forgiveness. Enjoyable while it plays and gone the moment it stops.
