Come Home the Kids Miss You Review
2022Album
A pop star album made by someone who had not yet earned the right to be that relaxed.

The confidence outran the material badly. First Class takes a Fergie hook, does almost nothing to it, and rides it to a number one, which is a legitimate pop trick and also the whole idea of the record. Elsewhere he sounds like a man who has decided the hard part is over. Nail Tech is genuinely good and sits at the front like an argument the rest of the album abandons.
Dua Lipa is the low point, a song about wanting to date a specific pop star that is neither funny nor charming enough to survive its own premise. Side Piece and Movie Star are empty. The production is flat and bright, and the writing has no specificity at all, just gestures at wealth and women from someone whose appeal was supposed to be personality. It sold well on momentum and it is the record that turned goodwill into suspicion.
