Business Is Business Review

The circumstances make a fair review awkward and they do not change what is on the disc. He was in custody with his own lyrics being read out as evidence, so the album was put together from existing material by his label and a producer, and the result has the shape of a compilation rather than a record. Individually a lot of it is good. Parade on Cleveland has a beautiful, unhurried beat and one of his better vocals.

Money on the Dresser is sharp. Uncle M works. But the sequencing is arbitrary, the guests are there to fill space, and there is no arc because nobody who could build one was in the room. Metro Boomin handled the reissue and improved it, which tells you how loose the original was. Worth hearing for four or five performances. Impossible to hear as an album, because it was never allowed to become one.
