Bad Habits Review
2019Album
A number one album that nobody has voluntarily played since the week it charted.

It topped the chart and that is genuinely the most interesting fact about it. Sixteen tracks of dark, expensive sounding trap with the same monotone vocal and the same handful of phrases, released at exactly the moment when playlist placement mattered more than songs. Price on My Head has the biggest guest and it is the only track with any tension. Tap and Time Piece are competent.
Snap has a good beat. The rest is a single continuous forty nine minute mood with a hook every three minutes to mark the passage of time. The producers involved are genuinely good and they keep supplying material that a more expressive performer would turn into records. What arrives instead is technically clean, entirely affectless music. The number one was a triumph of distribution over content, and the total absence of any lasting song from it makes that case better than any argument could.
