Animal Ambition Review
2014Album
Independent, competent and entirely inessential. Nobody has thought about this album since the week it came out.

There is a version of this that could have been interesting, a veteran off the major label leash with nothing to prove making something strange. Instead he made the safest possible imitation of what rap sounded like in 2014, trap drums and dull synth pads, and rapped about money in the flattest terms of his career. Hold On is the closest thing to a song, and it survives on the strength of the delivery rather than anything written.
Everytime I Come Around and Twisted are perfectly serviceable and dissolve on contact. The problem is not effort, it is that the voice that once made a threat sound funny now sounds like a man reading a balance sheet. He was already better known for television and drinks money than records by this point, and the album makes no argument against that. It is filler released by someone who no longer needed to release anything.
