Toyota built the sixth generation RAV4 around a single decision: there is no longer a gasoline only version. Every car in the range pairs the 2.5 liter four with electric motors, 226 horsepower in front wheel drive and 236 with all wheel drive, and the EPA rates it at 43 miles per gallon combined in front wheel drive, 41 to 42 with all wheel drive. The plug in hybrid moves to 324 horsepower and up to 54 miles of electric range, up from 42 on the outgoing Prime, which covers most commutes without waking the engine.
The rest is careful rather than daring. The body is squarer and reads better than the outgoing car, which is faint praise until the two are parked together. Inside, a 10.5 inch touchscreen is standard with a 12.9 inch unit available, every trim gets a 12.3 inch instrument display, and Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 is fitted across the range. The new software is quicker than the system it replaces and the climate controls stayed physical.
What has not changed is the case for buying one. Nothing in the class holds value like a RAV4, nothing costs less to service, and the hybrid drivetrain has a decade of evidence behind it. Hybrids reached dealers in December 2025 and the plug in followed in the spring. Prices start at thirty one thousand nine hundred dollars before delivery, which buys a car that is now very good at everything rather than exceptional at anything.
