For 2025 Toyota did something quietly radical and made the Camry hybrid only. Every version now pairs a 2.5 liter four-cylinder with the fifth-generation hybrid system for 225 hp in front-drive form or 232 hp with the optional electric all-wheel drive. Pricing starts around $28,400, and the thriftiest trims are rated up to 51 mpg combined.
The case for it is simple and strong. You get 40 to 50 mpg in normal driving with no plug, no range anxiety, and Toyota's long record of reliability and cheap upkeep. The cabin is roomier and better finished than the price suggests, the infotainment is much improved, and all-wheel drive is now available across the range for winter states.
It is not exciting. The styling is inoffensive rather than striking, the interior materials are sensible rather than special, and the hybrid four sounds coarse when you extend it. Enthusiasts will find it numb.
None of that matters to its buyer. As a no drama, low cost, high value family sedan that will run for 200,000 miles and hold its resale, the 2025 Camry is close to unbeatable. It is the smart default for a reason.
