Nothing else at any price does what the Plaid does. Three motors, 1,020 horsepower, carbon sleeved rotors that let the things spin past 20,000 rpm, and acceleration that genuinely reorders your internal organs the first several times. The remarkable part is that it also returns 396 miles of range, so the fastest way to cross a country is also among the most efficient. Then you sit in it. The interior is a decade old in its bones and the materials never justified a six figure price, the yoke is an act of self harm that Tesla eventually made optional, and the absence of stalks turns a simple three point turn into a puzzle.
Air suspension bushings, door handles and screens are the recurring service items. Depreciation has been merciless, worse than anything else Tesla sells, because a car this expensive with this cabin has a narrow second owner. Buy one at three years old and the whole value proposition inverts.
