Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT Review
2022Cayenne Turbo GTCar
A two and a half tonne SUV that corners like it has read the wrong manual, and drinks accordingly.

Most performance SUVs are quick in a straight line and then apologise. The Turbo GT is not one of those. Porsche took the Cayenne Coupe, raised the twin-turbo V8 to 631 horsepower, dropped the ride height, stiffened everything, fitted rear axle steering and a titanium exhaust, and produced something that changes direction with a precision that the mass has no business allowing. On a good road it is faster than most sports cars and considerably more comfortable, because the air suspension still has a soft setting and the interior is the best in the Porsche range.
The bill is enormous. Fuel economy is the worst kind of bad, the sort where you plan journeys around stations. Tyres are a bespoke size and priced like it. Out of warranty this is a complicated air-sprung V8 SUV, which is a sentence that should make anyone nervous, and the electronics that make it so clever are the parts that eventually cost. Depreciation is ordinary rather than catastrophic. Worth it if you drive it.
