Mazda CX-30 (2025) Review
2025CX-30Car
A small crossover with a genuinely lovely cabin, undone by a back seat that assumes nobody sits in it.

Sit in the front of one of these and the price seems like a mistake. The materials, the switchgear and the driving position belong two segments up, and the way it steers and rides is well beyond what anyone expects of a small crossover. The turbocharged version is genuinely quick. It is also handsome in a restrained way that its boxy rivals are not. The catch arrives when you open a rear door.
The back seat is tight for adults and the boot is small even by subcompact standards, which is the recurring cost of Mazda styling its cars first and packaging them second. The rotary infotainment controller frustrates anyone used to touching a screen, and the base engine needs working to keep up with traffic. As transport for one or two people who care how a car feels, it is the best thing at the money. As family transport it is the wrong shape.
