Lexus sold three-row SUVs for two decades that could not seat adults in the third row, and the TX exists to end that. It is built on a car platform rather than a truck one, which is the whole point: the floor is low, the middle row slides properly, and a grown adult can sit behind another grown adult without negotiation. The plug-in version adds enough electric range to cover a school run and a shop without the engine starting.
Inside it is quiet and well finished without quite reaching the RX's standard, and the equipment list at this price is generous. It is a newer nameplate than the rest of the range, which is why reliability sits a tier below the proven models rather than at the top, and why resale is merely good instead of excellent. The exterior is anonymous. It is a deeply sensible family car and makes no other claim.
