2024IS 500 F Sport PerformanceCar
An old sedan with a V8 nobody sensible would have approved, which is the entire reason to want one.

The chassis underneath this car dates to 2013 and it shows: the infotainment is a generation behind, the rear seat is tight, and the driver assistance is merely adequate where German rivals are far ahead. None of that is the point. Someone at Lexus decided to put the naturally aspirated V8 into the small sedan at the exact moment the rest of the industry went to turbocharged fours and electric motors, and the result is a car that sounds extraordinary and will still start every morning in fifteen years, which is not a combination anyone else offers.
It is quick without being sharp, since the suspension was never developed for this much power and the car leans and understeers if you press it. Economy is poor. But maintenance costs are ordinary Toyota costs, reliability is excellent, and it holds value better than a compact luxury sedan has any right to, because the people who want one know it will not be replaced.
