Kia K5 (2025) Review
2025K5Car
The best looking mainstream sedan you can buy, undone by a resale curve that falls off a table.

The K5 is proof that a family sedan does not have to be shy. The roofline runs unbroken to the tail, the light signature is sharp without being fussy, and the GT-Line looks like something twenty thousand dollars dearer sitting in a car park. Inside, the twin display dash reads well, the wheel and switchgear feel solid, and the equipment count at any given price undercuts everyone. The 1.6 litre turbo four is the volume engine, making 180 horsepower with adequate mid range and no character at all, though the eight speed automatic shifts cleanly and the 290 horsepower GT exists if you want more than the front tyres can take.
Ride and noise suppression are good on the motorway. The problems are ownership economics rather than the car. Resale is the weakest in the class, and buying one new means eating a much steeper first three years than a Camry or Accord owner will. Reliability records are solid but not immaculate, with electronics and transmission complaints outpacing the Japanese benchmarks. Buy it used at two years old and the value equation flips completely in your favour.
