Jeep Cherokee (2026) Review
2026CherokeeCar
Jeep brought the Cherokee back as a hybrid only crossover, which is the most sensible thing the brand has done in years.

Jeep stopped building the Cherokee after 2023 and the hole it left was obvious: a Compass below, a Grand Cherokee above, and nothing at all in the part of the market where the RAV4 and the CR-V sell in hundreds of thousands. The sixth generation was shown on 21 August 2025 and reached dealers before the end of the year. It is 188 inches long on a 113 inch wheelbase, built in Toluca, and costs 35,000 dollars before a 1,995 dollar delivery charge, rising to a shade under 43,000 for the Overland.
One powertrain, and that is the decision that matters. There is no V6 and no plain four: every Cherokee pairs a 1.6 liter turbocharged four with two electric motors for 210 horsepower and 230 pound feet through an electric continuously variable transmission, with all wheel drive standard. Toyota and Honda have sold this recipe for years and Jeep has not, which is the point. The rating is 39 miles per gallon in town and 35 on the highway, 37 combined, nearly double what a Wrangler returns and better than anything else wearing this badge has managed. It tows 3,500 pounds, and a larger Hurricane four arrives for 2027 for buyers who want the shove.
Inside, a 12.3 inch touchscreen is standard on every trim, Uconnect 5 is still among the quicker systems in the class, and cargo space is up about thirty percent on the old car. The shape is upright and plain in a way that should age better than the squinting car it replaces. The reasons to hesitate are the ones that follow Jeep everywhere. Stellantis reliability has been poor for a decade, dealer service is dear, and resale on a first year Jeep carrying a brand new hybrid drivetrain is a real risk. Buy it for the fuel figure and the price, not because the badge has earned the benefit of the doubt.
