Ford understood the assignment on the design and mostly delivered on the engineering. The Bronco looks superb from every angle, the doors and roof panels come off without tools, and the Sasquatch package brings thirty five inch tyres, locking differentials front and rear and a disconnecting anti roll bar straight from the factory. Independent front suspension is the clever choice, because it makes the car far more composed on tarmac than the solid axle alternative while still going almost anywhere off it.

The 2.7 litre twin turbo V6 with 330 horsepower is the engine to have and it is genuinely quick. The trouble starts with the details. Early cars had hard top leaks and finish issues, the recall list is long, and owner reported problem rates sit well below the class leaders. Wind noise with the roof on is significant, the interior is rubber and hard plastic by design, and economy in the high teens is unavoidable. Resale has been unusually strong because demand outran supply for years. It is a toy that mostly works, and worth it if you actually use the capability.
