Ferrari 430 Scuderia Review
2007430 ScuderiaCar
Lighter, faster-shifting and sharper than the F430, the Scuderia spent years overlooked between the Challenge Stradale and 458 Speciale, and deserves better.

The Scuderia replaced the 360 Challenge Stradale and aimed at the Porsche 911 GT2 and the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. Michael Schumacher, a year out of Formula 1, spent a lot of time testing it, including on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, and unveiled it at the 2007 Frankfurt show. Ferrari took 100 kg out of the F430 with carbon fiber for the center tunnel, door panels and parts of the intake system, bare aluminum floors and Alcantara trim, lowered it by 15 mm and reshaped the bumpers, sills and diffuser for more downforce at the same drag. An open version, the Scuderia Spider 16M, followed to mark Ferrari's 2008 constructors' title, limited to 499 cars.
The 4.3 liter V8 gained a revised intake and exhaust and ion-sensing knock detection that allowed a higher compression ratio, for 503 hp at 8,500 rpm and 347 lb-ft at 5,250 rpm. Superfast2 software cut the single-clutch F1 gearbox's shift time to 60 milliseconds from the F430's 150, and the car paired the F1-Trac traction control introduced on the 599 GTB with the E-Diff electronic differential, all governed by a racing manettino on the steering wheel.
Larger carbon-ceramic brakes came as standard. Ferrari quotes under 3.6 seconds to 62 mph and 198 mph. evo's retrospective review found brakes so communicative that the driver can feel the texture of the discs, and praised the car's poise, balance and grip, with electronics that stay out of the way.
Its weaknesses are the F430 family's. Specialists warn that the thin stainless exhaust manifolds crack and can damage the catalytic converters if ignored, that a failing F1 pump accumulator or actuator can strand the car, and that the single clutch can be worn out in 15,000 to 30,000 km depending on how it is driven. evo advises a printout of remaining clutch life and a check of disc wear and caliper pistons, which can seize on cars that sit. Ferrari rated it at 15.7 liters per 100 km on the European combined cycle.
It listed at $277,456 in America. After years in the shadow of the cars either side of it, values have climbed: evo reported a jump from about £150,000 to more than £200,000, RM Sotheby's sold a 42,000 km car for €359,375 in Monaco in 2026, and a 125-mile car from the Bachman collection made $1.65 million at Mecum's Kissimmee auction in January 2026.
Its category marks are pulled down by a spartan cabin and the running costs of a single-clutch Ferrari. Its overall mark is for the way it drives, and for showing that Ferrari's traction electronics could make a very fast car easier to drive hard without dulling it. The 458 Speciale that followed is faster and more valuable, but the Scuderia established the electronic side of the formula.
