The Charger Daytona is Dodge's answer to a question nobody could avoid forever: what happens to the muscle car when the Hemi is gone. The Scat Pack is the serious version, with two motors, all-wheel drive and 670 horsepower, which on paper makes it the most powerful production Charger ever and quick enough to reach sixty in 3.3 seconds. It looks the part too, a long low fastback with a full width light bar and the R-Wing pass-through nose that actually does something for airflow. Drive it hard and the pace is never in doubt.

The trouble starts once the novelty fades. This is a heavy car, close to two and a half tonnes, and the 100.5 kilowatt hour battery returns only 241 miles of EPA range on the performance tyres, which is poor for the size of the pack and turns any real trip into a planning exercise. The synthetic Fratzonic exhaust, piped through a speaker to fake the noise of the engine that is no longer there, divides people sharply and wins few over. Inside there are big clear screens and a decent driving position, but the plastics are ordinary and rear visibility through that fastback is bad.

None of that would sink the car on its own. What sank it was the price against the reality. Buyers stayed away, Dodge moved only a few thousand in half a year, and the discounts grew until you could find twelve thousand dollars off a new one. For 2026 the cheaper R/T was quietly deleted and the Scat Pack had its sticker cut, which is the clearest admission a maker can make. It is a fast, interesting, well engineered thing that the market did not want, and the used values already show it. Buy one at two years old and the story flips entirely.
