Chevrolet Bolt EUV Review
2023Bolt EUVCar
The cheapest useful electric car America ever sold, with a battery recall that defined it and a charging speed that dated it.

The Bolt EUV's numbers still read well. Under thirty thousand dollars bought 247 miles of range, a genuinely spacious rear bench for a small car, and on the top trim the option of Super Cruise, which was the best hands free motorway system available and had no business appearing on a car this cheap. The packaging is efficient, visibility is excellent and the running costs are the lowest here, because parts are cheap, tyres are cheap and every Chevrolet dealer can work on it.
Two things hold it back permanently. The battery fire recall meant every car built before the fix needed a new pack, which is now largely complete and arguably leaves buyers with a younger battery than the car around it. And a DC charging peak of about 55 kilowatts means a long journey involves real waiting, which no software update can solve. The interior is plainly cheap. Values have held up better than most, because demand for affordable used electric cars is real.
