BMW iX xDrive50 Review
2025iX xDrive50Car
The strangest looking car BMW sells contains the best interior it has ever built, and the two facts are unrelated.

The iX is two cars. Outside, it is the most contentious shape BMW has signed off in modern times, with a grille that serves as a sensor housing and a face that stops people mid sentence. Inside, it is the best cabin the company has produced, full stop. Open pore wood forms the centre console, the controls are cut from crystal, the seats are excellent and the whole thing feels designed by somebody who had recently visited a nice house.
The engineering is serious too, with a carbon fibre reinforced passenger cell that keeps the weight of a large battery in check and 516 horsepower delivered with real refinement. The 2025 revision added both range and charging speed, and it is quiet in a way few electric sport utilities manage. The problems are the price, an options list that inflates it further, and depreciation that has been poor because the styling narrows the second hand audience considerably. Bought used, the sums make a great deal more sense.
