The records
Newest first, each with the line its review opens on.
2006IdlewildA soundtrack to a film neither of them needed to make, and the end of a partnership by attrition.
2003Speakerboxxx/The Love BelowTwo solo albums in a box, one of them a funk record and one of them a jazz musical, and both largely work.
2000StankoniaFaster, louder and pointed straight at the world. The one that made them enormous without softening anything.
1998AqueminiLive instruments, science fiction, harmonicas and the best writing either of them ever did. A genuine masterpiece.
1996ATLiensThey took the funk out into space and came back with the coldest, strangest record of that year.
1994SouthernplayalisticadillacmuzikTwo teenagers and a live band arguing that the South had its own thing, and winning the argument immediately.
