The model that gave generated video its own soundtrack, and still the one to beat on a single perfect shot.

Before this model, generated video was silent and everybody politely pretended not to notice. Google's May 2025 release put dialogue, sound effects and ambient room tone inside the same generation as the image, with mouths landing on the words, and collapsed a five tool pipeline into one prompt. The October revision, 3.1, is less a redesign than a tightening: better prompt adherence, steadier faces across shots and richer audio, with the native 4K path arriving in a January update rather than at launch. For the single clip, a held camera move, a lit face, a spoken line, it is still the reference against which the rest are measured.
It is not the whole job. Comparisons hand Sora 2 the edge on cinematic feel and prompt fidelity at the very top, and Kling leads on stitching several shots into a story, so the honest workflow uses this for the hero shot and something else for continuity. Access is a credit economy rather than a price. Flow gives out a daily allowance for nothing, the consumer subscription buys a monthly pile of credits, and the quality tier burns them ten times faster than the light one, while the developer path bills per second of output and turns expensive at 4K with audio.
Anyone producing at volume should model the bill before committing, which is what the repetitive work grade records. The thinking and coding grades below are formalities for a tool that does neither and claims neither.
