Whatever one thinks of it, Suno works. A line of description returns two full songs with sung vocals, coherent lyrics, a structure with verses and a chorus, and production that would pass as a demo in most genres. The interface could not be simpler, and the latest versions have improved vocal clarity and instrument separation to the point where the tell is subtle. That is the whole case, and it is a strong one for jingles, placeholders, parody and anyone who wants to hear an idea before hiring musicians.
The case against is equally clear. The output has a house style, a compressed, slightly glassy sheen that becomes recognisable after a dozen tracks, and the lyrics are competent and never surprising. Its training data is the subject of litigation from the major labels, which matters for anyone considering commercial use. It is graded here on what it does rather than on what it means, and what it does is remarkable.
