Kling has been the most underrated thing in generative video since June 2024, when the first version produced two minutes at 1080p and thirty frames a second while western rivals were still showing curated demo reels. Version 3.0, out on February 7, is an architecture rebuild rather than a point upgrade. The line now covers four models: video 3.0 and video 3.0 omni, image 3.0 and image 3.0 omni, with the omni variants taking mixed instructions across text, image and audio in a single prompt.
Native 4K is the headline and it matters more than it sounds, because upscaled output falls apart on skin and hair in exactly the shots people want to use. Audio generation and motion control arrived alongside it, which closes most of the gap with Veo on paper. What still separates them is the kind of thing a spec sheet cannot carry: obedience on complicated blocking, and whether a two shot survives a camera move.
The reservation is jurisdictional rather than technical. Kling runs under Chinese content rules, so politics, protest and anything read as criticism of the government will not generate, and that is not a setting a user can change. For a commercial creative shop this may never come up. For journalism or documentary work it is disqualifying, and the grade reflects a tool that is excellent inside a fence somebody else built. Credits are the pricing model, with a free allowance to test on and paid memberships for 4K output, longer clips and faster queues.
