GitHub Copilot Review
GitHub CopilotAI Model
The autocomplete that started the whole category, still the one that fits most naturally into a working day.

Copilot's advantage is that it is already where the work happens. Inline completion in the editor, suggested while you type, remains the lowest friction form of AI assistance anyone has shipped, and for the repetitive fraction of programming, boilerplate, tests, the third handler that looks like the first two, it is close to magic. The chat panel and the agent mode added since have caught up with the standalone tools on capability, and the model picker means it is no longer tied to one vendor.
Setup is a subscription and an extension. Where it is weaker is judgment: completions are confidently wrong often enough that a beginner will ship the mistake and an expert will spend time deleting, and the chat is less willing than Cursor to take on a multi file change and see it through. It is the safe recommendation for a team and the one most enterprises have already approved, which is its own kind of quality.
