Gemini Notebook Review

It answers only from the sources you hand it, and that one restriction makes it the most trustworthy thing Google ships.

The whole design rests on one restriction: it will not answer from anything except the material you give it. Upload the contract, the syllabus, the twelve papers and the board pack, and every sentence it produces carries a citation you can click straight into the source, which turns checking from an act of faith into two seconds of work. That is why it is the one Google product working researchers, teachers and lawyers actually recommend, and why it spread through universities and firms faster than anything else Google has put in this line.

The audio show it generates from a stack of documents remains the best trick in the category and is genuinely useful on a commute. Newer builds run code in a sandbox so a notebook can do real arithmetic on a spreadsheet instead of describing it, which lifts an axis that used to be empty, though nobody should mistake this for a development tool and the coding grade reflects that narrow use alone.

The limits are the strengths inverted. It will not reason past your sources, so it is useless as a general thinker, source counts are capped per notebook, and July's rename moved a product people had learned to trust into a crowded brand, which is the one part of that update nobody asked for. Give it good documents and it is close to flawless.
