A school siege zombie series with a nasty, inventive first half, stretched to twelve long episodes when eight would have done.

Lee Jae-kyoo co-created and co-directed this adaptation of Joo Dong-geun's webtoon, written by Chun Sung-il, and stages the outbreak at Hyosan High as a siege. The infected are fast, twitching and loud, the classrooms, stairwells and broadcast room become a map the students have to learn, and the first episodes move with real panic. The virus has a grimly apt origin, a science teacher's experiment to make his bullied son fight back, and bullying is the thread the show keeps pulling.
Lee cast unknowns on purpose, and it pays. Park Ji-hu and Yoon Chan-young are likeable as the childhood friends On-jo and Cheong-san, Cho Yi-hyun's class president Nam-ra gets the most interesting arc, and Yoo In-soo's bully Gwi-nam is a villain who refuses to go away. The teenagers are types, but the cast makes their deaths land.
The trouble is length. Twelve episodes of up to 71 minutes turn a strong eight-hour story into a cycle of hide, argue, run, and the cutaways to police, soldiers and politicians outside the school rarely earn their time. The Rotten Tomatoes consensus said it loses bite over an overlong season, and that is right. A second season, following On-jo to university, was filmed in 2025 and 2026.
