TCL QM6K Review
2025TCLTV
Mini LED contrast and a native 144Hz panel for what a plain LED television used to cost, with the brightness that price implies.

The QM6K is what happens when Mini LED reaches the bottom of the range. Announced in January 2025 and on sale the same week, it puts a native 144Hz panel, roughly 500 dimming zones, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and console grade input lag into a 65 inch television listed at $999. Nothing at this money did all of that a year earlier.
The compromise is brightness. Measurements land near 560 nits in Filmmaker Mode and around 800 on a small window in the brighter presets, which is enough for a room with the curtains drawn and not enough to make HDR highlights punch in daylight. Five hundred zones spread across a 65 inch screen also means each zone is large, so a white subtitle on a black band lifts a visible block of picture with it, and dark scenes show the backlight working.
Two of the four HDMI inputs run at full bandwidth. The Onkyo tuned 2.1 system is adequate rather than good, and Google TV is quick enough here while carrying the usual advertising on the home screen. Judged against the plain LED sets it replaces at this price it is a clear upgrade and the obvious second room television. Judged against the step up models it is exactly what it costs.
