Samsung's affordable 2026 OLED is punchy and a superb gaming screen, let down by thin sound and no Dolby Vision

The S85H sits below the S90H, S95H and S99H in Samsung's 2026 OLED range. Those sets use QD-OLED panels in their main sizes, while the S85H uses a WOLED panel from LG Display in every size. It arrived in April with a new 48 inch option, the NQ4 AI Gen2 processor and a refreshed Tizen that now promises up to seven years of OS upgrades.
Reviewers agree the picture is a cut above most entry OLEDs. It runs brighter than LG's B6 and blacks have the usual OLED depth, so films and sport look solid and three dimensional. Scrutiny finds the flaws: default modes push color hard, bright skin tones can be lifted until detail is lost, some shadow detail is crushed, and the S90H shows clearly more nuance for more money.
Gaming is its strongest suit. All four HDMI 2.1 inputs take 4K at 120Hz with VRR and ALLM, and input lag sits around 9ms. The weak spots are familiar Samsung ones: no Dolby Vision, with HDR10 plus in its place, and 2.0 channel speakers with almost no bass.
The 65 inch lists at 1,999.99 dollars and is often discounted, though LG's B6 has fallen faster in price. As an affordable way into OLED, especially for console players, it is a strong pick. Budget for a soundbar.
