Samsung QN90D Neo QLED Review
2024SamsungTV
As bright as any consumer television gets, in a bright room that is exactly what you want, and in a dark one it is not an OLED.

The QN90D is designed for a room the OLED makers would rather you did not have: one with windows. Its Mini LED backlight pushes highlights well beyond what any OLED reaches, the matte finish kills reflections, and in daylight it is simply the better picture. Motion handling and gaming support are excellent, with 144Hz on PC and four full bandwidth inputs. The costs show up after dark.
Local dimming is very good and still cannot match a self emissive panel, so bright objects on black backgrounds carry a faint halo and the letterbox bars on a film are grey rather than absent. Off axis the colour washes noticeably. Samsung's refusal to support Dolby Vision remains a real omission on a set at this price. It is the right television for a specific room and a merely good one everywhere else, which is worth knowing before spending OLED money on it.
