LG G5 OLED Review
2025LGTV
The four-stack tandem panel ended the brightness argument between OLED and Mini LED, without needing a lens array to do it.

Micro lens arrays were a clever way to squeeze light out of a three-layer stack. The G5 abandons them for a genuinely new panel, a four-layer Primary RGB Tandem structure that gives red and green their own emitting layers between two blue ones, and the result is roughly 2,200 nits in a calibrated mode. That is about a third more than the G4 and enough that HDR highlights finally carry the same weight they do on a bright LCD. Colour volume improves alongside it, because the extra output arrives through the emitters rather than through a diffuser.
Everything else is the mature LG package: 165Hz on all four HDMI 2.1 inputs, G-Sync and FreeSync, roughly 9ms of lag, and a flush wall mount in the box. Two things to know. The gallery design puts every board inside the panel, so there is no breakout box and the cable run is fatter than the profile suggests. And it launched at $3,399 for the 65-inch, which is not a value proposition until the discounts arrive, though they arrived quickly and heavily. As a picture, this is the best television LG has made.
