Hisense U6N Review
2024HisenseTV
Mini LED contrast for the price of an edge lit set, as long as you never plug a console into it.

The U6N is the cheap television that stopped being a compromise. Hisense put a mini LED backlight and a serious zone count into its entry model, so black levels hold in a dark room in a way no edge lit set at this price manages, and quantum dots give it color saturation budget LCDs simply do not have. It gets bright enough for a sunlit room, the Google TV software is quick, and the picture out of the box needs less correction than the money suggests. For a bedroom, a kitchen or a first apartment it has been the obvious answer since launch.
The performance grade is where the savings show. The panel is 60Hz, there is no HDMI 2.1 anywhere on the back, and a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series X therefore runs at half the frame rate the console can output. Viewing angles collapse quickly, which matters in a wide room with a sofa at each end, and the built in speakers are thin enough that a soundbar stops being optional. Judge it as a television for watching television and it is remarkable value. Judge it as a gaming display and it is the wrong purchase at any price.
