2023HisenseTV
A Mini LED television for six hundred dollars, which is remarkable, and it is still a six hundred dollar television.

The U6K's trick is that it has a Mini LED backlight at all. In 2023 that was a technology sold at two thousand dollars and upward, and Hisense put a few hundred dimming zones behind a quantum dot layer and sold the 65 inch for about six hundred. In a dark room with a film running it produces contrast a set at this price has no business producing: the black bars stay black, and highlights have something real behind them.
Google TV runs well enough, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ are both there, and nothing about the build feels insulting. Then you look at it properly. The zone count is low enough that a bright object on a dark background drags a visible glow along with it. The panel is VA, so move one seat off centre and the picture goes pale. The refresh rate is 60Hz with no variable refresh, which rules it out for anyone plugging in a current console.
And the processing is thin: fast camera pans stutter, and a compressed stream shows its blocks in the shadows. Two hundred dollars more buys a U7 and most of that goes away. What the U6K is genuinely for is the second television, the bedroom or the spare room, where the alternative is a bad panel and the budget is fixed. On that comparison it wins easily. Against anything costing real money it does not.
