Tecno Camon 50 Ultra Review

Tecno announced the Camon 50 Ultra at MWC in March 2026 at around €400 for Europe, roughly $450, with no US launch; Malaysia had it on sale by the end of the month and India followed in July at Rs 39,999. The pitch is a camera phone that can take a beating. The frame carries IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings and a MIL-STD-810 certificate, the front is Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and the whole thing stays under 8mm thick with a 6500 mAh battery inside.

Endurance is the standout: GSMArena measured a 16 hour active use score, among the strongest it had recorded, though 45W charging takes about 80 minutes for a full tank. The 50MP Sony LYT-700C main camera has OIS, the 50MP 3x telephoto has it too, and the 50MP autofocus selfie camera shoots 4K; the 8MP ultrawide is basic, and the telephoto goes soft past moderate zoom. The 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED runs at 144Hz and reaches about 1300 nits in auto mode.

What holds it back is the Dimensity 7400 Ultimate, an efficient mid-range chip that reviewers in Malaysia and India both called average for the price, and HiOS 16 on Android 16, which leans on AI features nobody asked for; the three OS upgrades and five years of patches promised are better than Tecno used to offer. The Ultra badge promises more than it delivers. The durability and the battery are real.
