Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 Review
2025SamsungPhone
The cover screen finally covers the cover, and Samsung used the moment to swap in a chip nobody asked for.

Motorola put a full-size cover screen on the Razr in 2023 and Samsung spent two years pretending it had not. The Z Flip 7 gives in: the 4.1-inch FlexWindow runs edge to edge across the outside with 1.25 millimetre bezels, the cameras sit inside the panel, and at 2600 nits it works in sun. You still need Samsung's Good Lock app and its MultiStar module to run ordinary apps on it, which is an absurd thing to still be true, though Gemini Live works there out of the box and the widgets are good. Inside, the 6.9-inch 120Hz panel is a full-size phone with the flattest crease of any Flip. Open, it is 6.5 millimetres thick.
The battery finally grew to 4300 mAh, a thousand more than the Flip 3, and this is the first Samsung clamshell that gets a heavy user to bedtime. Charging stays at 25 watts, which in 2025 sits at the bottom of the industry.
The chip is the story. Every Flip 7, including the American one, runs the Exynos 2500, Samsung's own 3 nanometre part, instead of the Snapdragon 8 Elite in the Fold 7: the first Exynos inside a US Samsung flagship in a decade. It is fast enough for anything a Flip owner does and in daily use you would not know; it is also measurably behind the Snapdragon on graphics and sustained load, throttles sooner, and does it in a phone that costs $1,099.99. The cameras are unchanged from the Flip 6, a 50 megapixel main with OIS and a 12 megapixel ultrawide, good, with no telephoto.
On reliability the frame is Armor Aluminum, the rating is IP48 with no dust seal, and the promise is seven years of Android and security updates, the best in the class. The Flip 5 and 6 hinge has a far cleaner record than the Flip 3 and 4 had, and there is no reason yet to expect the 7 to differ. Same price as the last two, and the first Flip that is easy to recommend, chip and all.
