A 6000 mAh battery, an IP69 body and the Snapdragon 8 Elite for $899: the first OnePlus in years with no asterisk.

The 13 fixed the list of things the 12 got wrong and left the things it got right alone. It launched in China at the end of October 2024 and everywhere else on 7 January 2025. The IP65 rating became IP68 and IP69, so the phone shrugs off hot water jets rather than just rain. The 5400 mAh cell became a 6000 mAh silicon-carbon battery in a body thinner and lighter than the 12, and in daily use it ran two days without effort; 80W wired and 50W wireless charging finished it in well under an hour. The Snapdragon 8 Elite was the fastest Android chip of its year and OnePlus's cooling kept it from throttling in long gaming sessions, while an ultrasonic fingerprint reader replaced the optical one and worked with wet fingers.
The 6.82-inch 3168 x 1440 LTPO 4.1 panel dropped the 12's deep curve for nearly flat glass with micro-curved edges and kept the 4500-nit peak. The cameras moved to three 50MP sensors: a Sony LYT-808 main, a Samsung JN5 ultrawide and a Sony LYT-600 periscope at 3x, with Hasselblad processing that finally handled contrast and skin in the same frame.
It is still a step behind a Pixel 9 Pro or an iPhone 16 Pro on consistency, and OxygenOS 15 carried a growing collection of AI features nobody asked for. Four Android updates and six years of security patches were promised, short of the seven years Samsung and Google offer. Even so, most reviewers called it the best Android phone of early 2025 for the money, and some dropped the qualifier.
