iPhone 15 Pro Review

The frame changed from stainless steel to grade 5 titanium and the 15 Pro lost 19 g overnight, which you notice more than any spec. The port changed too, Lightning to USB-C with real USB 3 speeds on the Pro, because the EU said so. The mute switch became a configurable Action button, and the A17 Pro was the first 3 nm chip in any phone, with hardware ray tracing that let Resident Evil Village run on it.

That chip is also why the first three weeks were spent on the word overheating: units ran hot enough to throttle during setup and in Instagram, and Apple fixed it in iOS 17.0.3, with a bug in iOS 17 and third-party apps taking the blame. The 48-megapixel main sensor gained a 24-megapixel default output and a choice of 24, 28 and 35 mm framings, plus Log video and ACES for people who grade footage; the 5x tetraprism telephoto went only to the Pro Max, leaving the 15 Pro on the same 3x as the year before.

The 6.1-inch 120 Hz always-on panel was unchanged and still among the best. The 3274 mAh cell held a comfortable day. Titanium picked up finger oil that some owners read as discolouration and wiped off. It shipped on iOS 17, runs iOS 26 today, and its 8 GB of RAM made it the only 15 to run Apple Intelligence. Price held at $999 for 128GB.
