Google Pixel 11 Pro Review

A brighter screen, twice the base storage and a chip that still loses to Qualcomm: the Pixel to buy, again.

The Pixel 11 Pro changes less than its number suggests and fixes the two complaints that stuck to the 10 Pro. Base storage is 256GB rather than 128GB, and the price rises with it, from $999 to $1,099; the Super Actua panel peaks at 3600 nits behind a coating Google rates at more than twice the scratch resistance of last year's. The body is the same size, the camera bar is 40 percent thinner, and the Pixelsnap magnets stay in the back.

Tensor G6 remains the argument. Built on a 3 nanometre process, it is about 20 percent more efficient and much quicker at the on-device model work the phone is designed around, and it still trails the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 on graphics by a margin that shows in games and nowhere else. Battery life is the payoff: Google quotes more than 30 hours against 24 last year, with a 4850 mAh cell and 30W charging, and reviewers have found that broadly honest.

The cameras carry over at 50, 48 and 48 megapixels with a 5x periscope, and the new work is in software. Pro Zoom now reaches 120x with the same caveat as last year, that some of what it shows was reasoned rather than recorded. Seven years of Android updates still make this the longest-lived phone in the vertical.
