The thinnest iPhone ever, a design triumph that asks you to accept a small battery

The iPhone Air is Apple's thinness experiment made real. At 5.64mm and 165 grams it is the slimmest iPhone ever, and picking it up is genuinely startling. The 6.5 inch OLED runs at 120Hz, the A19 Pro inside is quick, and the titanium and glass build feels every bit as premium as the price suggests.
The trade for that profile is a single rear camera and a small battery. The lone 48MP sensor is good, and clever cropping gives you a passable second focal length, but there is no dedicated telephoto or ultrawide, so it cannot match the Pro models for range. The 3,149mAh battery is the bigger compromise. Light users will finish a day, but anyone who leans on the phone will be topping up, and Apple sells a dedicated battery case for a reason.
Software is the usual iOS 26 with a long update runway, and the phone supports MagSafe and wireless charging despite the thin frame. It is a marvel of engineering that mostly works.
At 999 dollars the Air is for people who value how a phone looks and feels above all else, and who do not push battery or cameras hard. If endurance or photographic range matters to you, the regular iPhone 17 or a Pro is the wiser buy.
