Nintendo Switch OLED Review
2021NintendoConsole
The screen the Switch should have had, sold as a premium tier four years late.

Everything that changed is on the outside. The OLED panel is genuinely lovely, with the deep blacks and saturation that make handheld play feel like a different product, and the wide adjustable kickstand fixes the single most embarrassing part of the original. The dock gained an ethernet port. What did not change is the chip, so games run exactly as they did, which by 2021 meant visibly worse than anything else on sale.
The question is only whether the screen is worth the premium over a base model, and the honest answer depends on where you play: docked to a television you gain nothing at all, and in handheld you gain the best display Nintendo has ever shipped. It is a fine machine and a mild upgrade, and it arrived when people wanted a Switch 2 instead.
