The Legion Go 2 refines Lenovo's ambitious original into one of the most feature rich handhelds anyone has shipped. The centerpiece is an 8.8 inch OLED at 1920 by 1200 and 144Hz with variable refresh and up to 1,100 nits in HDR, one of the best displays on any portable. Inside sits up to an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme with Radeon 890M graphics, as much as 32GB of LPDDR5X and 2TB of storage, fed by a 74Wh battery that charges at 65 watts. The detachable TrueStrike controllers return, redesigned for better ergonomics, and one half still stands up as a vertical mouse for the desktop.
As a showcase it is hard to beat. The OLED is gorgeous, the top chip keeps pace with the fastest handhelds, and the removable pads make it far more versatile than a fixed slab, whether propped on a table or clipped to a stand.
The knocks are physical and financial. It is thick and heavy in the hands, the battery drains quickly at full tilt, and the price is punishing at 1099 for the Z2 model and 1349 for the Z2 Extreme. This is a device you buy because you want the best screen and the most flexible shape and you are willing to pay for both. Anyone chasing value should look at cheaper handhelds first, because the Legion Go 2 is a luxury, not a sensible default.
