ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X Review

The ROG Xbox Ally X is the machine the base model quietly points you toward. Launched beside it on October 16, 2025 at 999.99, it swaps in the top tier AMD Ryzen Z2 AI Extreme, a Zen 5 chip with 16 RDNA 3.5 graphics cores and a fast neural engine, plus 24GB of memory, a 1TB SSD and a large 80Wh battery. The 7 inch 1080p 120Hz screen and the comfortable Xbox style grips carry straight over from the cheaper Ally.

This is where the platform makes sense. The Ally X is among the quickest handhelds you can buy, its battery lasts longer than most rivals under the same load, and the full screen Xbox experience unifies Game Pass and every PC store into one console like shell. It runs current games at 1080p with settings you would actually choose rather than merely tolerate.

The cost of entry is steep at 999.99, and it remains a Windows handheld, which means real weight, real heat and the occasional need to fiddle. But it is the class leader for anyone who wants maximum handheld speed inside the Xbox and Windows world. If you are buying a single Windows handheld in 2025 and can absorb the price, this is the one to stretch for.
