Under Doctor Review
2026Manga
A confident debut running mostly on borrowed parts. The drawing is well ahead of the writing.

The linework is the first thing that registers: clean, confident and unusually good at bodies in motion for a first serialization, which is part of why Kohei Horikoshi went out of his way to recommend the series. The hook is efficient. Heiji Kino can see the points on a body that kill, which means he can also see the ones that heal, and the series turns operations into fights: a clock, a hostile room, and a surgeon who refuses to take a life even when everyone around him would prefer that he did.
The early chapters move fast and the medical set pieces are staged with real tension. The problem is that very little of it is new. This is Black Jack crossed with a battle manga, the debt is openly acknowledged by the author, and once the novelty of the premise burns off the series reaches for standard escalation, including a power upgrade inside the first dozen chapters that arrives well before a reader has any reason to want one.
The supporting cast is functional rather than memorable, and the criminal underworld he moves through is a list of assignments rather than a place. Two volumes in it has survived the stretch that kills most new Jump series and it belongs on the short list of the magazine's better recent launches, which is a real compliment and a small one. The critical record is still thin. What exists is a competent, watchable series that has yet to show a reason to exist beyond its influences.
