Scarlett Woods Golf Course Review
Toronto's beginner course, and it does not pretend to be anything else.

Scarlett Woods is a par 62 that exists to be easy, and judged on that purpose it is good at it. The holes are short, the fairways are wide, the hazards are few and the walk is flat, which makes it the right first course for a beginner, a child or anyone returning after a long absence, and the green fee reflects that. There is a pleasant stretch along the Humber where the trees close in and the course briefly looks like more than it is.
The design has no ambition beyond playability, the conditioning is the city standard of adequate greens and thin fairways, and a competent golfer will find nothing to think about after the third hole. That is fine. The value is the whole case: a walkable eighteen in the city for the price of a range bucket elsewhere, with a friendly starter and no dress code worth the name. It is graded a C because it is a C course, and recommended anyway to the people it was built for.
