Pebble Beach Golf Links Review
The most beautiful stretch of public golf on earth, sold at a price that knows it.

Everything you have been told about the cliff holes is true. The run from the fourth through the tenth is the finest stretch of public golf anywhere, and the eighth in particular, with its blind tee shot to a cliff edge and a second across a chasm to a green hanging over the water, is worth the whole trip on its own. Neville and Grant were amateurs who had never designed a course, and they had the sense to route it along the water twice rather than saving the ocean for a grand finish.
Conditioning is very good rather than flawless, since twenty thousand rounds a year leave marks that no budget entirely hides. The green fee is the problem: past six hundred dollars before a caddie, with a lodging requirement to book in advance, which turns a round into a small holiday. It is still the one course an American golfer should play before they stop, and the value grade is the only honest way to say both things at once.
