Hy-Hope Farm Golf Course Review
A working farm that happens to have eighteen holes on it, and the best cheap walk in Durham Region.

Eighteen holes and only 3,256 yards of them, which tells you nothing useful about how this place plays. Hy-Hope is a working farm first, and the golf routes itself around orchards, pasture fence lines and market gardens on some of the steepest ground in Durham. Par 60 means a lot of mid-iron tee shots, but the greens sit on shelves and side slopes that punish a lazy one, and the drop-shot holes off the ridge give you the best long view in the region for free.
Conditioning is honest rather than plush: fairways thin out in August, greens roll a shade slow but true, and the bunkering is basic. None of that matters much at $25 midweek. It walks beautifully, closer to a hike than a stroll, and you are round in two and a half hours. Judge it as a championship test and it fails. Judge it as the most enjoyable inexpensive eighteen within an hour of Toronto and the grade holds without argument.
