Copper Creek Golf Club Review
Doug Carrick's valley holes at Kleinburg are as good as public golf gets in the GTA.

Copper Creek is really two courses that trade shifts. The tableland holes are strong, modern parkland golf: wide bent-grass fairways, deep white-sand bunkering, big multi-tier greens kept at a pace most private clubs would envy. Then the routing drops into the Humber valley and the round changes register entirely. The stretch along the river, framed by hundred-year-old hardwoods and the old Kleinburg mill, is the best run of public holes in the region, and Carrick sequences it so the drama peaks twice, once a side.
It is a big course in every sense, over 7,000 yards from the tips, and it asks for every club. The green fee is big too; close to two hundred dollars at peak puts it in special-occasion territory, and carts are effectively mandatory given the climbs. But nothing about the day feels like a compromise. If a visitor gives you one round inside an hour of Toronto and the private gates stay shut, this is the answer.
