The most aggressive Tekken ever built, which is thrilling for a hundred hours and exhausting after that.

Tekken 8 has a thesis and refuses to hedge it. Heat gives every character a timed aggression window with chip damage, a free approach and a personalised move upgrade, and the recoverable health it chips away means turtling no longer banks anything. Combined with the return of the wall carry game and Rage Arts that can steal a round outright, the result is a fighter that punishes patience harder than any entry since Tekken 4, and the split over whether that is bold or reckless has run since launch.
What nobody argues about is the presentation. The Unreal Engine 5 character work, the rain sitting on Jin's shoulders, the stage destruction, all of it is the genre's new ceiling. Special Style offers a simplified input layer, Arcade Quest is a warm onboarding mode, and the training tools with their ghost opponents modelled on your own habits are the most useful in the genre. The story is the usual family of superhumans punching a volcano, played completely straight, which is either the charm or the problem. The storefront that arrived months later soured a lot of goodwill the fighting had earned.
